Kausal

Kausal makes music where improvisation and small fragments create a somewhat darker, restrained and monotonous pop; music for a city where anonymity easily leads to loneliness. Their debut album In Dead Cities was written during sporadic rehearsals. Longer improvisations lead to multiple pieces that in the end was put together into a full-length album. The album was recorded during one weekend in October at Version Studio and was engineered and mixed by Karl Daniel Lidén (Vaka/Dozer).

Anders Carlström and Erik Nilsson are long-time friends and have prior to Kausal been involved in assorted band projects together. They had long talked about starting up a new project, based on an idea of creating something simple and more impulsive, and after meeting drummer Henrik Johansson all the pieces were finally there.

Outside of Kausal, Erik Nilsson is a member of A Swarm of the Sun and Aoria and also runs the record label Version Studio. Anders Carlström is a member of Lingua, Come Sleep and Rövfitta. Henrik Johansson is a member of Librah and Ekrano.
